SC junks PCSO plunder case vs. Gloria Arroyo —lawyer
The Supreme Court (SC) has junked the plunder case filed against former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for the alleged misuse of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office's (PCSO) P366-million intelligence funds from 2008 to 2010.
Lawyer Raul Lambino, one of the legal advisers of the former president and now Pampanga 2nd District representative, said that SC justices voted 11-4 to junk the plunder case.
UPDATE: Sa botong 11-4 d-in-ismiss po 'yung kasong isinampa ng Aquino gov't sa dating Pang. Arroyo kaugnay sa PCSO plunder case. — Lambino— DZBB Super Radyo (@dzbb) July 19, 2016
Radio dzBB said that according to Lambino, the former president was pleased with the high court's ruling.
Raul Lambino, isa sa legal advisers ni Arroyo: Tuwang-tuwa po siya (Arroyo) at kasama ko siya dito sa Veteran's Memorial Medical Center.— DZBB Super Radyo (@dzbb) July 19, 2016
The lawyer reminded that Arroyo was placed under hospital arrest at the Veterans' Memorial Medical Center in Quezon City because of the PCSO case.
GMA News Online is still seeking a confirmation from SC spokesperson Theodore Te.
The SC's Public Information Office has scheduled a press conference at 2 p.m.
Arroyo’s camp earlier filed a demurrer before the Sandiganbayan First Division over the alleged misuse of the PCSO funds.
A demurrer is a written plea for the dismissal of a case.
The First Division denied Arroyo’s demurrer in 2015, prompting her camp to elevate the case to the SC.—with Elizabeth Marcelo/ALG, GMA News
